Your Strengths\’ calendar for October (10/12)

Hello and welcome (back) to my blog, dear friends!

And Happy Fall!I can not believe we are already in October: I really hope your 2024 continues smoothly and that you got a good sense of enthusiasm! But if your enthusiasm plays hard to get, I am here with another calendar filled with activities meant to encourage you to be more prudent and grateful. And, as usually, these activities are ways to use our character strengths intentionally.

In case you are new on my blog and to the concept of character strengths, watch this video that explains them in detail. But as a conclusion, I will just say this: character strengths are our inner resources, that we all have and that we can use with intent in order to reach flourishing and peak performance. They have been researched intensely in the last 20+ years and the studies say that they are:

  1. Universal – we all have them, no matter where we live
  2. Cross-cultural – they exist in all cultures of the world
  3. Easily recognized – we apply them without thinking
  4. Elevating to self and others – they put us in a state of flow and lead to peak performance

The Strengths Calendar for October shares simple ways to help us approach life with Prudence, Humor and Gratitude. Almost all activities have a link attached to them, that you can access if you click on the image – each of them will lead you to an article or a video about that specific strength:

But for now, let\’s just establish 1 detail about each of them:

Gratitude and Humor both fall under the virtue category of Transcendence. Transcendence contains character strengths that help us connect to the larger universe and provide meaning. About GRATITUDE I have made a video, 2 videos actually – the 2nd one being a meditation segment focused on Gratitude. It is guided by me and I hope you will enjoy it. I have tried it myself and it has helped me, otherwise I would not post it here :).

Prudence falls under the virtue category of Temperance, which contains strengths that help us manage habits and protect against excess.

On my Youtube channel you will find videos about some of the character strengths and more will come. Im working on a series meant to offer a birds-eye view over the concept of character strengths: what they mean, why they are valuable to us and how we can use them optimally in order to live a flourishing life.

Gratitude – According to VIA, gratitude is our attitude of thankfulness, of feeling connected and appreciating positives in our lives.

Gratitude is the 1st and simplest step we can all take towards a happier life. And if you think you have nothing to be grateful for, try subtracting everyone and everything that is good in your life.

Prudence – according to VIA, to be prudent means to be wisely cautious, to think before we speak; to be planful, goal-oriented, and a risk-manager.

Humour – according to VIA, means to share laughter and joy with others, to see the lighter side of things and to be playful.

If you did not take your VIA Character Strength Test yet, by now you are probably excited to find out your OWN Strengths, and how you can apply them to Build The Life You Really Want. So take the test, save the results and get back to me so we can figure out together how you can use them to thrive and flourish.

So im looking forward to meeting you, so we can discover together how you can live your life from a position of strength, with more fulfilment.

Stay close for the next blogpost, where we will see what is the \”golden mean\” for each of the character strengths we talked about today – we will learn how each of them can be used optimally (not too little or too much).

Remember, 2024 will be (y)our BEST year yet ;)!

Until next time, stay positive and take care of yourselves!
